Students will have nightly homework Monday-Thursday.
Students are expected to read each night for 30 minutes. This can be independent or with a parent. The reading should be on the child's level so that they are able to practice and build their reading skills, as well as comprehend what is being read. There will be a nightly reading log in their homework folder, which includes a one sentence summary of what they read and a parent signature.
In addition to reading students will also study their math facts nightly. At the beginning of the year students will study addition and subtraction facts but we will quickly move into multiplication and eventually division facts. Students may use flash cards, math fact apps, math fact online games, or even parent/student created fact quizzes. Students will have a Math Fact Parent Signature page also included in their homework folders.
Occasionally I may replace a regular nightly homework assignment with a more specific and necessary homework assignment such as finishing a classwork assignment or studying for an upcoming assessment. I will give notice of these changes in students' planners and as a Remind message.
As always please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your child's homework.
